The old Poem hit the Poet with a strike
of a shock; knocked him out of the place…
He never expected to ran into an old lover… that unpublished
breadcrumbs of life…. passing by
on the same sidewalk, each
heading in the opposite direction.
Hearts pinned.
In a sudden moment of recognition
their “Hellos” met
in a grin that
lurked shared moments of past
and a feeling that touched
everything lost. Frantic
conversation hid
dried residues of foolish tears
followed by the final break-up, stubborn silence. They burnt
with the secrets of never fulfilled dreams
and drummed in a blush to rush
memories in rhymes of smiles;
the Poem and the Poet wondered
how did the Poet lose that Poem?
